Posted on January 23, 2025June 28, 2025 by Earl K. Miller

The Olympians and Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson are two book series that remind us of important moments from our childhood. Let’s explore what makes the Percy Jackson books so special, especially with the new Disney+ show coming out based on these popular stories. Take the time to read them so you can enjoy the show more.

Information About the Books Percy Jackson is a writer.

Think of a world where today’s Greek gods have kids who are part god and part human, known as demigods. This is an interesting idea from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians books. In the beginning of the story, Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, embarks on an adventure in a secret world filled with fictional gods, goddesses, and their wonderful children. Since 2005, two more books have been added to the series: The Trials of Apollo and The Heroes of Olympus. These books introduce new personalities and keep readers engaged.

How many books are in the set?

There are 17 books in the Percy Jackson universe, divided into three stories. As of 2023, there are six books in the classic Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The Chalice of the Gods is the latest book to be released.

Percy Jackson Book Sets

You can add various box sets of these books to your home library. These sets are usually included in Amazon’s “buy two, get one free” book sale.

  1. The Lightning Thief At the beginning of the trip, Percy Jackson discovers that he is not just a regular 12-year-old with ADHD and dyslexia; he is also a god and the son of Poseidon. Percy goes to Camp Half-Blood, a summer camp for gods, because people think he stole Zeus’ lightning bolt. He needs to find out who he is and how to solve the puzzle of the stolen bolt.
  2. A Sea of Monsters In this second book, Percy and his friends help save Camp Half-Blood when its magic protections begin to fail. They take a risky journey to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve a powerful item. They encounter many threats and discover important family secrets.
  3. The Titan’s Curse Kronos, an old Titan, poses a danger in this book, along with some new gods. Percy needs to help his friend Grover fight a powerful old monster. He has to cope with the curse mentioned in the title.
  4. The Labyrinth Fight As Percy starts high school, the conflict between the Gods and Titans intensifies. He and his friends must navigate a tricky maze inspired by the Greek tale of Daedalus and the Minotaur to save their world from destruction.
  5. The Last Olympian At the end of the story, Percy and his friends must protect Mount Olympus from the Titans. The battle goes to the streets of Manhattan and ends with a fight that changes everything.
  6. Our new book is called The Chalice of the Gods. When this book is released in 2023, Percy is about to begin college. He needs to pass three tests to get the letter of approval. He will then hang out with his friends for another exciting trip filled with old stories, gods, and the power of friendship.

Order of the Olympian Gods and Goddesses

  1. The Hero Who Got Lost This book introduces new characters and tells the story of a god named Jason who forgets who he is and becomes involved with the Olympians. Jason and his friends need to locate Percy Jackson and discover surprising information about Camp Half-Blood and its rival, Camp Jupiter.
  2. Being Neptune’s son. In this next part, Percy has lost track of where he is and finds himself in California. He discovers Camp Jupiter and must fight Roman gods in a myth-based war.
  3. The Mark of Athena Annabeth and Percy reunite, but their joy is short-lived because a war is approaching. They travel to Rome, where Annabeth searches for her role as the daughter of Athena.
  4. The Hades House Annabeth and Percy need to escape the underground while their friends assist them from the surface. They must confront Hades and a plan to bring Gaea, the Greek name for Mother Earth, back to life.
  5. The Throne of Blood In the final book of the series, Percy and Annabeth battle Gaea, who wants to use demigod blood to gain power. The gods need to relax Camps Jupiter and Half-Blood so they can unite against their common enemy.
